What are hydroxy acids?

They are divided into alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) and beta hydroxy acids (BHAs). Most are natural (known as "fruit acids"). They are perfect for peels and their function is to exfoliate the skin, promoting the elimination of dead cells from the epidermis and stimulating the turnover of new ones; they also stimulate collagen production. Thanks to the exfoliating process, they also help reduce the appearance of dark spots, act as antioxidants, and have anti-acne effects.
