The ritual that completes cleansing by helping to remove dead cells and other dirt is called a scrub. This term, taken from the English language, indicates a treatment aimed at exfoliating the skin's outermost layer.
There are two different mechanisms: mechanical action or enzymatic action. In the first case, the ingredients responsible for the effect are granules that, when applied directly to the skin with circular movements, remove dead cells by rubbing them away.
In the second case, however, the action is mediated by specific proteolytic enzymes capable of binding to cells in the process of disintegration, promoting their elimination.
